How To Have What You Long To See

How To Have What You Long To See

Are there any circumstances in your life that make you feel mocked and ridiculed? Circumstances that cause you shame and discouragement?

Are there issues in your marriage that you hope no one finds out about? Do you have struggles with your kids that seem to slap you in the face with insult and embarrassment?

Everyone has life to deal with. Everyone has issues to deal with. Everyone has frustrations and aggravations.

The problem is when these issues carry on.

Many of us have sought help for our issues. We’ve read books. We’ve attended workshops. We’ve joined groups, virtually and in person. We’ve gone to counseling and therapy. We’ve practiced daily affirmations and fasted. Even still some issues persist.

So, we learn to live with them. We develop pathologies and coping mechanisms to deal with these issues until finally they become “normal”.

There’s a peace in giving up, isn’t there? It doesn’t feel good to admit, but it’s true. There’s a calming escape that comes when you accept the issues you can’t fix.

“I guess I was meant to be single.”

“I suppose I wasn’t cutout to be a business owner anyway.”

“Well my mom always struggled with this so it just makes sense that I’d struggle too.”

And then Destiny interrupts your “normal” with a reminder of the life you once envisioned for yourself and it hurts. It hurts to be reminded.

You settled that hope and Destiny is calling you to hope again. But, can you? Can you bear to try again? Can you fight again? Or, is the peace of a settled and lost hope too alluring?

Either way, Destiny says, “Speak to your issues. Speak life into the issues that seem dead”.

It can be such a hard thing to do to initiate a conversation with something or someone that won’t reciprocate. You give and nothing is returned. You give and no acknowledgement is made. You give and nothing happens.

Who wants to love someone who doesn’t love in return?

Who wants to talk to someone who won’t respond?

Who wants to care for someone who won’t care for you?

Who wants to commit to someone who won’t commit to you?

No one! No one wants to do any of those things!

But then Destiny persists, “Can you love as I have loved you, with a relentless, inequitable love? Can you give as I have given to you? Can you commit as I have committed to you?”

It takes a lot of faith to give to something that’s not giving to you, to love someone that’s not loving you. Can you do it? Will you do it?

Sometimes the course we’re called to doesn’t feel fair, it doesn’t feel right. Sometimes we have to persist anyway, believing in the goodness of the promise of Destiny. Sometimes we just have to speak.

Do you know what happens when our hope begins to fade? We stop talking about it. We stop speaking about that thing we’d hoped for. We stop sharing our vision. We stop envisioning the life we once saw for ourself.

If you want to kill something in your life, good or bad, stop talking about it. Stop feeding the life-giving energy of your words to what you don’t want to see in your life. And for those things that need to be revived, speak to them. Speak of them. Feed them the fuel of your faith through the words you speak.

If a dream has died, it’s because you stopped feeding it your life-giving words.

Someone told you, “You’ll never own your own home” and you believed them so you stopped speaking about it.

Someone told you, “You’re not cut out to be a business owner” and you believed them so you stopped speaking about it.

Someone told you, “You’re too old to be married” and you believed them so you stopped speaking about it.

Speak to your dreams so that they may live!

Fate cannot redeem a situation that you have abandoned.

There’s so much power in your mouth, not even Destiny can override it.

Speak into existence what you long to see.

Is Education The Answer?

Is Education The Answer?

Have you heard it said, that “education is the answer”? I’ve heard it multiple times.

What’s the answer to generations dependent on the welfare system? Education.

What’s the answer to the drug problem? Education.

What’s the answer to low self-esteem? Education.

What’s the answer to homelessness? Education.

Is it true? Is education the answer?

Allow me to share a story…

I was born to a single mom. A brilliant woman, with an extraordinary education. She came to this country to teach at one of our highly respected state universities. She spoke and taught several languages. She was a genius. Her mind and abilities were surpassed by few.

Even still, I never knew her as a professor. I only ever knew her as a waitress, a gardener, as hired help and as a personal assistant. Her capabilities always far surpassed the ones to whom she was employed, but that remained irrelevant.

If education is the answer, then why wasn’t she the employer? Why was she beholden to so many? There was hardly anything she wouldn’t do for money.

Her capabilities were forever overshadowed by her self-hatred, low self-esteem, lack of self-worth, and poor self-concept.

How is this relevant to you? Like my mother, you received some level of education using some form of curriculum and the raw material for that curriculum was the mentality of the students. So, the objective of the curriculum was to impact the mentality of the students. But, what was the impact of that curriculum on the student who possessed a flawed mentality?

Allow me to elaborate…In the homes of my mother’s employers, were children who witnessed success. They only ever saw bills paid. When they flicked the light switch, the lights always came on. When they opened the refrigerator, there was always food waiting. There was usually a mother and a father in the home and they sat as a family for meals. These children played sports, they participated in plays, they joined clubs, and they were invited into student leadership.

What’s the mentality of a child who only witnesses their parents in a position of influence? What’s the mentality of a child who’s parents prioritize their team events and other extra-curricular activities? What’s the mentality of a child who’s wardrobe is well furnished and who’s bed is always found to be safe?

Aren’t they the ones who know they’re somebody? Certainly they are. They know they’re somebody because they’ve been sacrificed for and their interests have been prioritized. They understand that they are significant. Their expectations of life and of success were crafted according to what they witnessed and how they were valued. They see themselves as destined for a role of authority. They’ll be boss because that’s what they’ve always seen and, consequently, come to expect.

If you have a child who’s already secure in their self-concept, know their self-worth, and is convinced of their self-esteem then all you have to teach them is to read, to write, and how to do arithmetic. They don’t need to learn how to love themselves, how to believe that they’re awesome and capable of anything. They already believe all that.

But, what if you have a child who hates themselves, who has no self-concept, no self-worth, and no self-esteem? What is the reading, writing and arithmetic going to do for them? It’s not going to make them the leader. It’s going to make them better servants to the leaders.

But, what if these children advance in their education? Will that help? What if they acquire multiple degrees and a slew of certifications? What then? Well, then they have multiple degrees and a slew of certifications along with self-hatred, low self-esteem, no self-worth, and no self-concept.

I was told by my mother to do well in school. There was so much fear tied to my academic performance. The admonition was, “do well in school and you’ll get a good paying job”. I’m sure she heard the same thing as a child, “do well in school and you’ll get a good paying job”.

She did do well in school and she did get a good paying job, but she didn’t keep it.

Today, I wonder if the outcome of her life would have been different had the admonition of her childhood been different. For instance, what might the outcome have been if she had heard, “you are loved. You are worthy. Value yourself and you will do well.”

Is education the answer? If so, then what about all the highly educated self-haters? What about them?

I don’t mean to denigrate education. I simply intend to show that it isn’t the answer.

What if we traded in the traditional 3 R’s (Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic) educational formula for self-concept, self-worth, self-esteem? What difference do you suppose that would make? What difference would that have made in your life?

Is it too late? Absolutely not!

Reconnect yourself to your source. Reconnect yourself to Destiny. You were created to show off the splendor of Heaven. You were crafted after the image of divinity. You’ve been endowed with special gifting and a unique purpose. You’re destined to impact history and humanity in a very particular way, totally distinct to you.

Your abilities and your potential are not tied to your education. They’re tied to Destiny. The One who authored your story has also already authored your success. You’re brimming with potential and once you align with Destiny, you’ll begin to see the outpouring of your magnificence. You are not one in a million. You are one in infinity – the rarest of gems.

How To Receive Your Prize

How To Receive Your Prize

Have you ever prayed, asking for wisdom, or promotion, or assets and found that your answer came in the form of a process that you had to walk out?

Typically, when we pray, we want to receive the answer to our request – the prize – without going through the course. We want to get the grade without going through the class.

On these occasions, we’ve likely asked for things that we’ve not yet been developed to handle. By going through the process or the course or the class we gain the chance to, not only, acquire the prize, but also experience a process that develops us to the point that we’re better able to enjoy the prize of our request.

Every answer is packaged in a process. Your gaining the prize is going to be based on your willingness to complete the process.

Will you quit or will you press through to the end? Will you finish your course and gain your prize or will you give in to the pressures of perceived defeat and seeming delay?

If you pray for wisdom, then expect to encounter life situations that you don’t know how to handle. Expect to feel overwhelmed and under qualified by the circumstances of your life, at least for a season, as you develop in trusting Destiny to show you how to handle those situations. By the time you’ve handled those challenges, you will be ready for the prize and have newly acquired wisdom.

So, if you prayed for something that has yet to manifest, know that it isn’t being withheld from you. It’s that you haven’t completed the process tied to that prize.

Right now, some of you are in the middle of a process and you’re feeling pressured to quit. You mustn’t quit. At the end of your course, is the end of your faith. The end of your faith is to see the manifestation of what you’ve asked for and hoped for.

Remember, the source of your vision, the source of the dream you hold inside, is also the source of the provision. Destiny knows your needs and your heart’s delights even before you do and has already secured every asset necessary for your life of great joy and good success. Destiny placed the vision inside you and secured the provision for it’s fulfillment. Your role is simply to submit to the vision. Believe in your dream and pursue it with fervor and passion. The provision for your dream will follow your pursuit of the dream.

Destiny longs to see you live your destiny even more than you do.

You asked for wisdom and you received a process.

You asked for finances and you received a process.

Destiny has withheld nothing from you. Just the opposite, in the realm of Eternity, all your assets lay in wait wearing your name.

If you ask for promotion, expect to receive a process that teaches you how to respect small and humble beginnings.

If you ask for finances expect to receive a process that grants you an understanding of how you got into your current financial predicament. Expect a process that brings opportunity to revisit the same financial challenges, allowing you to choose more wisely this time around.

And, if you don’t quit, if you keep the faith, then the manifestation of the thing you hope for will be granted to you and you’ll be ready to handle it.

Are you waiting, now, for an answer to a coveted prayer? Are you waiting on a manifestation? If so, hold on. You’re probably in the middle of your course right now. Press on to receive your prize.

If you’re being pressured right now, if you’re being tempted to quit right now, if you don’t know how far you can go with it, if you think you can’t make it through, then you’re right in the middle of your answer. Finish the course. Keep the faith. Walk it all the way through to your prize.

And, know this…Destiny is always there with you, leading you, enticing you towards your prize. You are not alone. All of heaven is rooting for you.

Sometimes, en route to your manifestation, you will find that what you receive is actually better than what you asked for. You asked small because you believed small, but Destiny knows what’s really intended for you.

Stay strong!

Stay blessed!

How To Manifest Your Destiny

How To Manifest Your Destiny

Do you know how to manifest your Destiny? Do you know Destiny’s will for your life? It’s simple.

Destiny’s will for your life is that you prosper in every way and that your body keep well, even as your soul keeps well and prospers.

What does it mean to prosper? It means being successful in every endeavor of life. It’s having success.

So then, Destiny desires for you to experience success in every way, including your health, even as your soul keeps well and prospers. Your success, then, in any area of life is going to be based on your soul’s success.

What is your soul?

Many confuse their soul for their spirit or they think that the two are interchangeable. They’re not.

You are a spirit, you possess a soul, and you live in a physical body. This is often referred to as the tri-part being of an individual.

Your soul is the part of you where thinking takes place. It’s your place of emotion and reason. It absorbs information from your five senses and crafts your thoughts accordingly.

In turn, these thoughts inform your heart, which serves to craft your emotions and govern most other areas of your life.

Were you able to follow that? Inside your soul is your process of thought which affects every single area of your life.

Similarly, the words we speak determine the way we think and the way we think determines the way we feel. If we feel depressed, then we’ve probably been cultivating thoughts of heaviness and depression through the words we’ve spoken. We can usually trace our emotions back to the thoughts we’ve cultivated and the words we’ve spoken.

Now, why does any of this matter? It matters because the way we think sets the course for our entire life. So, it’s worth asking ourselves, “What am I thinking about? And, how long have I been thinking about it?” The thoughts we dwell on are the thoughts we grow. The things we focus on are the things we strengthen in our life.

If you focus on your past failures, your weaknesses, or your shortcomings then you’re going to grow those things in your life and, consequently, hinder your present success. As a result, your present circumstances will begin to look strikingly similar to past failures and you’ll begin to question your capacity for success. You’ll ask questions like, “Do I have what it takes?” And some of you will conclude, “No, I don’t have what it takes to succeed. Once again I’ve tried and failed. I give up.”

It’s important to know that we have an ally and an advocate in Destiny because sometimes we need help believing in ourselves.

Wrong thinking will lead to wrong living. If we don’t get our thoughts right about who we are, the potential we carry, and the success we’re destined for then we won’t see the manifestation of these things in our life.

Conversely, if we elect to speak according to Destiny’s will for our life, then we will see the manifestation of the success and prosperity authored for us.

The truth is, you’re destined for great joy and good success. Irrespective of your age, irrespective of your story your destined to prosper.

The strongest force in existence is the human will. Everyday we have the choice to align our will with the will of Destiny for our life or the appearance of circumstances through the thoughts we keep and the words we speak.

Destiny says you were born to succeed. You were born to prosper. Will you cultivate thoughts and visions of your success or will you dwell on thoughts of past failures? Will you speak of your inherent potential and unique capabilities or will you speak of disappointments.

For the next seven days, let’s commit to only speak well of ourselves and of our life. Before our feet hit the floor each morning, let’s speak five affirmations aloud over ourselves. And, as negative thoughts surface throughout the day, let’s refuse to give them voice. After seven days, I suspect we’ll see greater evidence of the good success for which we’re destined.

The Closer You Align With Destiny, The Louder The Voice Of Fear

The Closer You Align With Destiny, The Louder The Voice Of Fear

Are you familiar with the book of Job in the Christian Bible and the Jewish Tanakh?

Job is an excellent example of someone who was highly developed in fear.

Job so feared that his children might sin against God that he made it a habit to regularly construct altars and offer sacrifices on behalf of his children, seeking forgiveness and reconciliation from God.  Job did this continuously simply as a precautionary measure. He sought to prepare for the worst and, in so doing, invited the worst into his life.

Remember, when you allow something to consume your thoughts, when you envision it in your mind’s eye, and imagine it as a reality you make room for it in your life. This is true of both negative and positive circumstances. That’s why I’ve so often encouraged you to meditate on the vision that Destiny placed inside you. As you do, you bring your whole being and entire life in line with Destiny’s plan for your life.

As we meditate on Destiny’s design for our life, we actively align our human will with the will of heaven. Similarly, when we meditate on visions fueled by fear we align our human will with the prospects of fear. When we agree with the lies of fear, we acquiesce the power of our will to the intents of fear. Allow me to explain, years ago I was diagnosed with chronic fatigue. The mention of another diagnosed malady was more than I was willing to accept after a childhood of abuse and trauma. Something inside me said, “Enough! I don’t accept this! You’re wrong, I don’t have Chronic Fatigue”. I refused to align my will with fear that day and I’ve never looked back. As a result, all of the symptoms that suggested I had Chronic Fatigue have dissipated and disappeared.

Just last night, I was driving home from an event in a city not far from our home. As I drove, a thought came to me, “it’d be so easy to just crash into that divider. It could be all over. I could rest”. Immediately I identified the thought as the voice of fear. Fear of overwhelm. Fear of failure as a mom. Fear of failure as a wife. Fear of failure as an entrepreneur. The tricky thing about the voice of fear is that it speaks to us in the first person. It say’s things like, “I’m no good. I’m a failure. I’m so unattractive. I’ll never succeed”. The thoughts sound very much like our own, but really they’re the deception of fear. As that thought came to me, I immediately recognized it as a tactic of fear and with that arose excited anticipation. If fear desires the end of me, it could only mean that I am right where I’m supposed to be, doing what I’m supposed to be doing. The closer we come to Destiny’s design for our life, the greater the threat we become to the motives of fear.

Now, back to Job. Job’s continual sacrifices were motivated by fear. His behavior was fear-based. He was motivated purely by the voice of fear. I imagine it sounded something like, “I bet she…He probably…He’ll never….If she…I better…What if I don’t…” Job became so preoccupied with the prospects of fear that he then gave himself physically to the building of numerous altars, further validating and strengthening that voice of fear. He totally surrendered himself to cultivating and yielding to the voice of fear and, as a result, he became highly developed in fear.

In fact, Job became highly developed in fear to the point that he saw the physical manifestation of all that he had imagined. Job lost everything. He lost his extravagant wealth. He lost his perfect health. He lost each of his children. He lost absolutely everything! Just think of how dramatically different his story would’ve been if he had given himself as earnestly to meditating on the promise of Destiny written on the lives of his children and on his own life.

Remember, the most powerful force on earth is the human will. The will that aligns with the design of Destiny will see the favor of heaven manifest. The will that aligns by acquiescence with the prospects of fear will see the unfavorable manifest.

When we tolerate the voice of fear in our life, we contaminate our faith for Destiny’s promise. When we tolerate our fear of elevators, of spiders, of large trucks, of airplanes, of different cultures we strengthen our faith in fear and yield greater strength to the prospects of fear for our life. We cannot afford to tolerate fear!

So, then, how do we actively resist fear? It’s simple. It’s not easy, but it’s simple. Meditate on the vision that Destiny has painted on your heart and mind. What is it? Don’t degrade it. Don’t call it childish. Don’t call it ridiculous or wasteful or materialistic or selfish or vain. Yield to it. What you don’t realize is that wrapped in the splendor of Destiny’s vision for your life is your priceless impact on humanity and history. All you see is a pretty picture. What you don’t see is the process of refinement that will prepare you to receive that manifest reality. Within that process of refinement is your blessing to the world. Your destiny is a vehicle to impact countless lives for the better. Cultivate the vision. Starve the fear.

Today, set aside 15 minutes to yourself. Maybe that’s in your car during commute. Perhaps its in the bathroom as you get ready for work. Maybe its a solitary walk on your lunch break. Whatever it is, make sure it’s to yourself. In that time, relinquish your heart and mind to Destiny. Allow Heaven to take captive your imagination so that you can sit with visions of your intended future. Every good and perfect gift comes from your Creator above. If, as you meditate, something other than good or perfect surfaces just reject it and move on. Like I did last night as I drove home when that thought of suicide entered my mind. Remember, as you gain clarity of your vision you threaten the prospects of fear for your life. So, if disturbing thoughts surface acknowledge them as confirmation that you’re on the right track. Reject the thought but acknowledge the confirmation.

Stay blessed!
